its not normal to only engage with media by white people, it is not funny or quirky to admit you dont read or watch things made by people of color, that is a failure, like that is a massive failure and im not talking about watching anime or cartoons i mean if you recognize and admit you dont engage with literature or poetry or historical accounts or discussions of bigotry when it isnt written by a white person you are actively apart of the problem, racism is not just yelling slurs or doing hate crimes, racism is the act of seeing brown people as lesser than white people in many different facets of life, if you notice that you never even attempt to read point of views that arent from white people that is a moral failure, you actively have to go out of your way to ONLY see, read, learn from and shape your understanding of the world with media by white people, you failed, on purpose, and that should embarrass you

and this one too. they let refugees fleeing a different war freeze to death in the middle of winter while the world turned a blind eye at the frozen corpses of children who were denied asylum and died because of it. this was happening as of two months ago as well, it’s not old news
i stand with ukraine, obviously.
i also stand with those who are calling out the blatant hypocrisy in how others in the same situation were treated, as well as those who are rightfully upset in the world’s support of and reaction to of one group of people but not others who have faced the same and much worse.
and before anyone jumps on this with ‘omg not appropriate right now’ or ‘stop comparing the two’, it’s entirely possible to stand with ukraine and the russians who are protesting the russian govt, while at the same time acknowledging that the world’s eurocentric response to this situation is extremely different to the response it gives other countries in places the western world declares are “backward”, and “uncivilized”
Okay, so there are some good points here. But as a white person, let me just say:
one of the reasons Palestine has gotten less international support than Ukraine is the fact that Russia HAS ACCESS TO NUCLEAR WEAPONS. Therefore, we (as in the whole world) are in danger if this escalates.
Racism is a part of it for sure, but nuclear weapons tend to make the top of people's priority lists.
israel has had nukes since the 60’s and has threatened to use them against enemies before, multiple times, but the world was silent
india and pakistan have nukes but the world is still silent on india’s military occupation of kashmir
the usa and israel threatened iraq with nukes, and the world actually encouraged it
it’s not about the nukes.
can we talk about how fucking exhausting it is constantly trying to distract yourself from your own mind? not being able to have any real time to relax yourself because you’re so terrified of your own head is so mentally and physically draining and if it’s something you’re going through i’m so sorry and i love you. this is a very real and common side effect of depression/anxiety/other mental health issues and more people need to talk about it.
